BEGINNER LEVEL MAINTENANCE

The names and functions of parts on different types of bicycles. What to clean & what to lubricate. 
 How to fix a punctures - removal, repair and wheel alignment. 
 How to check your brakes, tyre pressure and bolt connections. 
 How to make minor brake and gear adjustments – tighten brakes and stop those squeaks /clicks. 
 How to make comfort adjustments to suit you – adjusting saddle and handlebar height. 

Duration: 3 hours 

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL MAINTENANCE

All of the above – a quick reminder. 
How to fix your brakes – replace cables and pads and learn how to set road and mountain bike. 
How to fix your gears – replace cables and set front and rear dérailleurs - different gear shifters. 
How to replace chain / gear block – using chain tool and split link, threaded / unthreaded blocks. 
How to replace cranks and pedals.

ADVANCED LEVEL MAINTENANCE

All of the above – a quick reminder. 
How to service your bottom bracket. 
How to service your headset. 
How to service your wheel axle.

BUILD YOUR OWN BIKE CLASS

The advantages of different types of bicycles: do you want to build a road, hybrid or mountain bicycle?
How to build a bicycle from the frame and forks up a complete bike 
How to install a bottom bracket, a headset, cranks, handlebars, brakes, gears, levers, wheels, cables and chain. 
How to properly set and adjust the brakes and gears 
How to safely attach accessories such as locks, lights, carriers and mudguards 
General maintenance tips to keep the bike running smoothly 

Please note the price covers only tuition fees - anything additional (frame or parts) will be charged for unless you bring these yourself.

Duration: 16 hours (8 two hour classes)

BUILD YOUR OWN FIXE CLASS

How to pick a suitable frame – with advice on how to repaint it 
How to assemble frame and fork, including the installation of a bottom bracket and headset 
How to choose an appropriate chainring  and sprocket (the tooth ratio if you wanna get technical) 
How to attach both freewheel and fixed gear sprockets – flip-flop hub wheels 
How to correctly set chain tension – track dropouts, standard dropouts and hanging tensioners

Duration: 5 hours 

This class is designed for people who already have knowledge about bike mechanics. You need to know how to build a bike before signing up as the instructor will assist you but will not build the bike for you. We strongly recommend you take the “build your own bike” class if you have only basic knowledge in bike mechanics. You will have the option of bringing your own frame or take one of ours and leave with the bike you have built yourself! We will have to charge for any part you will use for this bike.
