New Year, New You...

Happy New Year! We hope it's a great one, filled with happiness and memorable experiences.

Have you set yourself the same New Year's resolution as last year? Cutting down on sweets, alcohol or exercising more? What about a more positive resolution? Science says you should seek out new experiences and not waste your money on temporary happiness with 'things'.

"One of the enemies of happiness is adaptation," says Dr Thomas Gilovich, a psychology professor at Cornell University who has been studying the question of money and happiness for over two decades. "We buy things to make us happy, and we succeed. But only for a while. New things are exciting to us at first, but then we adapt to them... We are the sum total of our experiences."
